History of Jewelry - The Art Deco Period

This one of my favorite time periods of jewelry! The Art Deco period of jewelry was born in the mid-1920s and continued through the 1930s. It all started with the World’s Fair event held in Paris called the Exposition Internationale des Arts Décoratifs et Industriels Modernes. These pieces were similar to those of the Egyptian period that radiated solid structures, geometric shapes, perfect symmetry and repeating patterns. The use of colored gemstones mixed with diamonds was very popular too. Cartier and Van Cleef & Arples were some of the key leaders in making beautiful signed pieces and keeping this period alive.
